SteelSafe Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Will your containers keep out water, wind and rodents?

A.Our containers will close up tight to keep out wind, water, and rodents. Our containers are made out of special steel to prevent deterioration, plus they have rubber sealed doors and treated thick wood floors designed to protect contents during overseas shipping.

Q.How much space is needed to unload the container?

A.We need about 50 ft of straight line space to deliver a 20 ft container, and 85 to 100 ft of straight line space to deliver a 40 ft container. Ultimately, we need enough space to deliver the container and have the truck pull out from under it.

Q.Can I move or relocate my container?

A.Only SteelSafe Storage Solutions drivers can move or relocate the container.

Q.Will the container be level when it is delivered?

A.It is the customer's responsibility to prepare the site. If the site is not level and the customer provides blocking, our drivers will do their best to level out the container.

Q.Are your containers brand new?

A.SteelSafe Storage Solutions rents used shipping containers that are in “cargo worthy “ condition. They may have dents, scratches, repairs, surface rust and some lettering, but will keep out water, wind and rodents.

Q.What times do you deliver containers?

A.In order to protect our customers' property and the safety of our drivers, we deliver during daylight hours Monday through Friday with certain exceptions for weekends.

Q.Can I use a regular lock on a container?

A.You can use a regular lock on a container, although we recommend a disc style lock for better protection.

Q.Does someone need to be there when the container is delivered?

A.Yes, there needs to be someone present during delivery in order to give instruction of exact location of the container. In the event that delivery cannot be made to the exact location, someone needs to be present to approve a new location.

Q.How do I find out about local regulations?

A.Every municipality has its own regulations for portable storage containers. It is the customer's responsibility to check with the municipality, HOA, or landlord to see what is required or prohibited.

Q.Do I need to clean my container before you pick it up?

A.Make sure you empty the container of all your belongings, do a simple sweep out, and remove your lock.
